Shannon Delaney was born and raised in Lake Placid, NY, tucked away in the Adirondack Mountains. Growing up in this environment filled her with a passion for nature and all of its creation, along with its endless outdoor adventures, and a passion for living a healthy and holistic life style. The key towards cultivating and deepening these passions began when she took her first group yoga class in 2002 -she was hooked at first ‘OM’. Ever since that fateful experience, she has made yoga, and jointly a meditation and mindfulness practice, an essential part of her daily life. She particularly resonates with yoga’s beautiful philosophy of the union of physical body and spiritual body, to achieve a state of internal, and resulting external, bliss. Shannon has had the privilege to train and study in many different yoga traditions (Kripalu, Jivamukti, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Bikram, & Forrest, to name a few), along with many well-respected teachers. Before relocating to Maine, she traveled to southern Thailand in early 2017 to participate and study in Vipassana, a ten day silent meditation session, at the International Dharma Hermitage of Wat Suan Mokkh. She has also had the opportunity to travel to India on two separate occasions to study at the Ayurvedic Natural Health Centre in Goa learning Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, and how that, combined with yoga asana, can improve heath and wellbeing. She went on to the holy city Rishikesh to further her study of yoga under Yogi Vishvketu ji at his yoga ashram, Anand Prakash (translation: blessed light). She received her formal 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified training, in vinyasa flow in 2010 with ‘Open Hearts Yoga School’ and is a RYT200. Shannon’s classes incorporate gracefully flowing sequences, therapeutic assists, mindful meditation, and, of course, blissful relaxation for a balanced yoga experience. As a bachelor level licensed nurse (BSN, RN), Shannon has a passion for working with people of all abilities, at any level. Her truest desire is to share the benefits of yoga and meditation with every-BODY, because everyone that has a body can do yoga – yoga is union, with your soul, and just by bringing your attention to your innately perfect soul, and believing that you are prefect, right here and now, you are doing yoga! Shannon is honored to share her yoga practice and is eager to share her enthusiastic spirit with her students. She know that by serving others, by sharing your passions and talents, you are, in turn, serving yourself – this what were are meant to do, it is our purpose and our birthright.
